Up until a week ago I was playing sims 3 on my x-box , where a sim's personal inventory was accessible to the entire family, but now that I'm playing it on the pc this setup is a bit more confusing.

It's very annoying, I'll agree with that, but I don't think anyone has ever found a way to prevent it. I get this even without switching worlds and can see it when I use MC to periodically query inactive households around the world being played to see what might be in their personal and family inventories.
